Details for Spring Concerts
Dear DCC members and parents,
Many thanks to all of you for your hard work and dedication to the choir this year! Here are details concerning our final performances for the 2005/2006 season. Please send me a response by email or return the attached form at next week's rehearsal.
Sat., Apr. 22 3:00 Concert, Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3639 Old Chapel Hill Rd.
1:45 Warm-up, Line-up, Rehearse Chaperones, please be there a few minutes early to help with the line-up, outfits, etc. Formal outfit will be worn: black pants or skirt, long-sleeved white blouse, red vest, tie.
Directions to Westminster: coming from the north, take 15-501 south to the Martin Luther King, JR. Parkway, from the MLK Parkway, turn right onto Shannon Rd. after the Wynnsong Theatres. Shannon Rd. will lead directly across Old Chapel Hill Rd. into the church parking lot. The sanctuary where we will sing is the first building on your left.
The concert will last about one hour and 15 minutes.
Sun, Apr. 30 3:00 Concert, Duke Chapel (This is the most important concert for the entire year!)
Formal outfit will be worn.
1:30 I'll need several parents to help set up the risers and to move the piano. (See response sheet)
2:00 singers arrive, warm-up, line-up, rehearse
Sun., May 7 4:30-6 Annual Potluck Dinner and Awards Durham School of the Arts cafeteria ( More to follow)

The following are extra performances for the choir. Please check those where you can participate on the attached form and return at the April 25th rehearsal, or email your response.
Sat., Apr. 29 10-10:30 AM Jr. League Home Tour Location TBA 15 singers needed
Their focus for this fund-raiser is " helping children." We will sing 2-3 songs "a capella" from the steps of the house during the kick-off for this event. Casual outfit
Tue, May 2 4:30 (last rehearsal) 6:30 PM Special Event Co. Celebration Carolina Theatre
We have been asked to represent the Durham Arts Community along with Chuck Davis and his dancers at this event for community, corporate, and university leaders from across the Triangle.
This will be our last rehearsal for the season. We will meet in our regular rehearsal room, then walk around the corner to rehearse in the Carolina Theatre around 4:45. At 5:30 we will return to the Arts Council for a snack and to change for the show. At 6:30 I will take the choir back to the Carolina Theatre for their 20 minute performance. At 7 PM, we'll walk back to the front of the Arts Council where they will be ready for pick-up by parents. You will need to bring your formal outfit to the rehearsal that day.

Fri., May 19 10:30-11:30 AM Dedication of the new Center for Senior Living ,downtown Durham behind the downtown Mc Donald's, near the YMCA on the corner of Seminary and Rigsbee St.
I realize this is a school day, but I hope we can have at least 15-20 singers present for this event. My 6th grade choir at DSA sang for the ground-breaking 2 years ago! Casual outfit

********************************************************************************************************Mark Manring will professionally record the concert at Duke Chapel. He will also photograph the choir during the performance and included 100+ images on the CD. The CD's will sell for $15 each. Please fill in the form below if you would like one or more copies of the 2005/06 Durham Children's Choir CD. The copies will most likely not be ready until June. I will mail them to you as soon as they are delivered to me.

Please tell your friends about the auditions and have them contact me or come to one of the times listed above.
Rising 9th graders currently in DCC will be allowed to remain in the choir for the next year (for boys, this can happen only if you can continue to sing in your un-changed voice) Ninth graders will be assistants to the directors and will also sing on all concerts. In order for me to know how many new singers I can admit to the choir, I need to know how many of you plan to remain in the choir.

Spring Concerts
The Durham Children's Choir will present two Spring Concerts during the month of April: the first will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 3:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 3639 Old Chapel Hill Rd. The second concert will be held on Sunday April 30 at 3:00 PM at Duke University Chapel. Both concerts are free and open to the public. Donations of any kind are gratefully accepted.
